History of Lutheran Schools
Our Redeemer Lutheran School is a special place, but it does not stand alone. Lutheran schools have a rich and solid history. Lutheran schools have existed in this country for hundreds of years. The oldest Lutheran school in America was started in Manhattan in 1752 and it is still in existence today. Currently, there are over 2000 Lutheran preschools, elementary schools, and high schools in the United States that are educating over 140,000 students. The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod operates 10 colleges and universities that help prepare pastors and teachers for our churches schools, as well as educating students for many other careers. The many Lutheran schools throughout the country share a common mission: our schools serve the Lord by touching the lives of children and young people with the message of Jesus Christ as Savior and Redeemer. Our Redeemer Lutheran School was founded over 40 years ago with this very mission in mind. The church and school have worked together to bring this message to many children and their families and will continue to do so for many years to come.
